Raise Your Hot Dogs, It’s 4th of July – Fun Facts

Howdy! Today we’re celebrating Independence Day with our American Contapp users across the pond today as we expect lots of fireworks and safe celebrations across the country. For those who are unfamiliar with the patriotic day of ‘Fourth of July’, it’s the anniversary of the publication of the declaration of independence from Great Britain in 1776.

It is a day off for the general population in America, as schools and most businesses are closed. Many Americans display the American flag outside their homes or buildings, with lots of communities arranging fireworks as well. Not to mention the untold amounts of food consumed.

Due to COVID-19, we ask you all to celebrate today but in a safe environment, keeping to the social distancing rules.

We picked out some interesting facts about the historic date of 4th of July, did you know…

  • The favourite food for the 4th of July is the hot dog. Americans will consume around 150 million hot dogs today
  • The first week of July is typically the busiest travel week of the year in the United States
  • Americans spend more than $1 billion on fireworks each year
  • Philippines and Rwanda also celebrate days of liberation on the 4th of July

Kick back and download Contapp on iOS or Android whilst the hotdogs are on the BBQ, there’s always time to organise your business cards. Enjoy the weekend!
